USB HASP key isn’t working!

If you don’t see either the red light or the green light on the key and you have installed the drivers for the key. You may have an issue of Windows not recognizing that there is a new component attached. These instructions apply to Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows XP.

For Windows 98 and ME:

  1. Right click on My Computer, and then click on Properties.
  2. Click on the Device manager Tab.
  3. In the list, do you see "Other Devices". Is there an item that says "HASP4 USB 1.33" underneath it? If so, click on that line once to highlight it and click the "Remove..." button. If you do not see either in the list, just simply go to the step 4.
  4. Click on the Plus sign next to "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" towards the bottom of the list.
  5. Remove everything under Universal Serial Bus Controllers. You may have to repeat Number 1 and 2 a couple of times to get back to the list again. Now when everything is removed, the "Universal Serial Bus Controller" heading will no longer appear. This is a good thing.
  6. Restart the computer.
  7. When the computer comes back up you will see that it has found new hardware and will run thru a couple of things while you watch. You should notice that there will now be a red or green light on the key.

For Windows 2000, XP:

  1. Right click on My Computer, and then click on Properties.
  2. Click on Hardware.
  3. Click on Device manager.
  4. In the list, do you see "Other Devices". Is there an item that says "HASP4 USB 1.33" underneath it? If so, click on that line once to highlight it and click the "Remove..." button. If you do not see either in the list, just simply go to the step 5.
  5. Click on the plus sign next to "Universal Serial Bus Controllers".
  6. Remove everything under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers". You may have to repeat Number 1-3 a couple of times to get back to the list again. Now when everything is removed, the "Universal Serial Bus Controller" heading will no longer appear. This is a good thing.
  7. Restart the computer.
  8. When the computer comes back up you will see that it has found new hardware and will run thru a couple of things while you watch. You should notice that there will now be a red or green light on the key.
