ProCAT was formed on this day (give or take a few weeks) to produce the first ” affordable PC-based CAT system” for the masses.  We ignited a new era in the court reporting industry.  An era of down-sized CAT systems and affordability.  We entered a market dominated by Baron Data Systems, Xscribe Corporation, Translation Systems, Inc., and Stenograph Corporation.   Each of them selling mini-computers from manufactures such as Datapoint, Jaquared, Texas Instruments, and Prime computers for as much as $100,000.  For the students of history, you recall one vendor bought out the others and rendered their products obsolete.

We entered the market with a smallest footprint and lowest price and drove the market to our embrace our vision.   Our new visionary software was delivered on the IBM Personal Computer.  While IBM has ceased to maintain its leadership in the PC market, its vision is still alive and well in every desktop, laptop, tablet, and smartphone.

We created a platform for our clients to enjoy using our software and grow with it as the market will grow.  Our platform became the model of choice for other vendors to replicate.  We are proud of the ongoing contribution to our industry.
