Educational Mode
Blaze is intended to be used in educational settings for those attending a bona fide court reporter training. Excepting certain educational limitations, Blaze offers the same comfort features and technological advances that we offer in our similar professional model at a 67% discount. The educational mode limits the steno file size to about 80 pages.
Storage
There are two internal steno storage banks:
- On-board Flash Memory — Blaze saves multiple steno files up to roughly 80 pages. You may use the provided driver to retrieve the notes in various formats.
- On-board Keyboard Memory Backup — The onboard memory is used as a second backup unit to store your notes. The onboard memory has the capacity to store as many as 5,000,000 -keystrokes synchronized with time.
Display
The display unit is a color WXGA, LED-backlit, and touch-sensitive LCD. You may use your fingertip or a stylus to tap on the screen to perform various functions — very much like a smartphone or tablet computer (i.e. iPad)
Communication Ports
There are three communication ports in the Balze that will address all possibilities:
- USB Client — Use this USB port to upload or download files, dictionary, user configuration files, etc. A USB cable is included to synchronize your files.
- USB Host — You may attach intelligent devices (i.e. Flash drive, hubs, etc.) for the purpose of adding additional functionality to your Blaze.
- Serial — This port has been added for backward compatibility with systems that do not support Bluetooth or USB connections.
Processors
Blaze uses two microprocessors to eliminate stacking and to provide redundancy. The primary processor handles the realtime features while the secondary processor is used to monitor the health of your system and capture the keystrokes.

The Blaze weighs only 4.8 lbs. It is by far the lightest writer on the market.

Battery
ProCAT writers have always offered the longest battery life. Blaze is no exception. It offers battery life for as long as 11 hours.

Realtime Protocol
Blaze uses the same realtime protocol as Flash, Stenopaq, and ProWriter Plus. This protocol has been optimized to offer the fastest realtime translation. Unlike the competition’s polled protocol, Blaze uses an instant data transmission. Blaze is compatible with any software that works with Flash.
Warranty
Blaze comes with one-year limited parts and labor warranty.
